The Unity Church Restoration Committee (UCRC) was formed in 2005 as a joint committee of the congregation of Unity Church and the Unity Church Building Trustees.  The UCRC is in charge of the entire restoration project including defining the scope of the work to be done, seeking funding for the restoration project and overseeing the restoration work.

The UCRC is chaired by Ellen Dehm.  Other members include William Ames, Robert Champagne-Willis, Richard Hill, and Mary Lu Love.

The UCRC solicited the help of James Thomas, Architect, to survey Unity Church and prioritize the restoration work.  Under his direction, the committee has broken the restoration project into two phases.  Phase One will restore the outside of the building, creating a waterproof envelope.  The slate roof will be refastened.  Mortar will be replaced.  Phase Two will address the inside of Unity Church, taking care of the interior wall, modernizing the climate control, and fixing the mechanical systems.  Each phase will need approximately one million dollars.

Due to water penetration, plaster in the interior of the church has been damaged.  Water threatens Unity's valuable art collection.

Three pictures taken in January, February, and March of 2006.

There are now open holes in the plaster, exposing wooden slats at the roof level.
